Challenge #2

In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Reading goals:
  • As always, read at least 100 books cover-to-cover, something I have only ever failed to do twice in the last two decades.
  • End the year with fewer than 180 unread books in my place. Right now I have 201.
  • Read three books for every new book I acquire.
  • Index all my book reviews so that they’re discoverable. I did this religiously until 2009; it’s time to get back into the habit.

If I make a to-do type list there’s a pretty good chance I won’t stick to it for long. Last year I put together a a list of 50 books to see how many of the books, out of those I felt I might like to read last year on January 8th, I actually did read by December 31st—and I read 30 of them! That’s a pretty good record, so here’s this year’s list

Activity goals:
  • Do pilates, stretching, or yoga more regularly.
  • Sit zazen more regularly.
  • Strength train at least once a week.
  • Go to BJJ regularly once sessions resume.
  • Take a 3 to 5 mile walk most days of the week.

Creativity goals:
  • Fill one lined journal.
  • Fill at least ½ of one art journal.
  • Finish my Baldur’s Gate playthrough.
  • Learn at least ten new Irish flute tunes, solidly.
  • Make icons! For a long time, I've been content to use two, but I'd like to have some more.
  • Paint more minis.

Language goals
  • Finish Transparent Languages Indonesian.
  • Work through one Japanese language resource from beginning to end.
  • Finish Transparent Languages Korean.
  • Work through one resource in another language from beginning to end.

Writing goals:
  • Complete [community profile] getyourwordsout. In previous years I signed up for the habit challenge; this year I’m doing wordcount. I’d like to hit my word count goal exclusively through fiction writing. I haven’t yet decided if I want that to be finished product (i.e., edited, completed stories) or just total words on a page.
  • Complete [community profile] inkingitout.
  • Post at least one piece of fiction to AO3 a month (even if it is only a drabble).
  • Participate in at least three exchanges.

I really like the way you've organised your goals.

As someone also trying to walk more, my eye got caught by the activity goal. But, good luck for them all!
