Prompt 2: Orange
Orange is a warm color that is associated with a variety of things including: excitement, vitality, invincibility, speed, vigilance, dedication, loyalty, family, success, friendship, power, change, harvest, and warmth.

Right now the color orange has one association for me, and that is Orange Cassidy.

What is Orange Cassidy, you say? I'm glad you asked. ) It is just pure, ridiculous entertainment, and I love it.

And so, in the spirit of that ridiculousness, I present this freshly-squeezed AU.

Title: Shootout At The O.C. Corral

Prompt 4: Green
Green is a rich color that is associated with a variety of things including: awakening, growth, renewal, productivity, intelligence, exuberance, prosperity, money, luck, envy, greed, survival, nature, spring, and birth.

I'm willing to bet at least some of you took a look at this post and thought, Plants are green and [personal profile] lebateleur posts a lot about plants these days. She will certainly answer this prompt with an additional post about plants.

Well...

YOU WOULD BE WRONG!

Because as it happens, I really like the color green. I mean, I really like the color green. I was super excited just thinking about all the green picspam I could generate in response to this prompt. Because if it is possible to own a thing, and that thing comes in green, then I will own the green variety of whatever that thing is.

Green fountain pens

I own a sizeable number of green fountain pens.

Fountain pen inks

Which are almost always filled with a selection from the similarly large number of green inks in my possession.

Green notebooks

And I write the vast majority of my first drafts in green ink, with my green fountain pens, in--you guessed it--green notebooks. (I wore the green silk scarf these are sitting on to work today.)

In other words, it is entirely accurate to say that my fanfic is largely brought to you by the color green.

Today is a 2fer: Friday Flora selected for the most recent Sunshine Challenge prompt:

I've been recounting my own vin(e)land saga over several recent Friday Floras, and am happy to report that both the loofah and the fuzzy melon got their act together this week and figured out how to climb the balcony railing. Better yet, the fuzzy melon rewarded me this morning with multiple velvety yellow blooms:

I had to take this picture leaning precariously over the balcony with my phone gripped loosely in one hand, so it really doesn't do the flower justice.

Here's a picture of some of the buds, which give a better sense of just how beautiful their coloration is. If this isn't the "yellow in the spring air" from the prompt, I don't know what is.

As an omake, here's a pic of the various herbals I had to hand on the nearest bookshelf while writing this post.

When I was eight years old, I found a second edition copy of Joseph Meyer's The Herbalist on my parents' bookshelf and promptly headed off into the woods to gather and brew up herbal concoctions, with nothing more to go on than the book's--often text-only--descriptions of the plants in question. (It is a wonder I did not poison myself.) But thus began a lifelong fascination with herbs and gardening.

Incidentally, one of the first two plants I successfully identified was the--appropriately yellow--cinquefoil:

Red is a strong color that is associated with a variety of things including: courage, power, glory, love, passion, inner strength, romance, sensuality, defiance, tenacity, violence, life, pleasure, fire, and revolution.Read more... )

For me the color red in fandom is the character Red from Warren Ellis' comic Injection. Aside from being one of the best comics Easter eggs, ever, Red is such a great foil for the epic weirdness that is Vivek Headland.

Title: Rat Race
Fandom: Injection, Red
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 752
Characters: Red, Vivek Headland, Noble, Original characters
Summary: Red is not a morning person.
