torch's X-Files fic Ghosts was a huge influence on me back in '97. That one could write an entire fanfic novel, with original characters and an original plot for which canon was just a jumping off point, had not previously occurred to me. Years later, it's still a great fic, and thankfully with a lot more novel-length company.

Oh, wow, yeah that is a stellar story! Torch tells a great tale.

Yeah, all these years later it is still one of my favorites.

Oh, I remember that fic when it was in its own archive - I'm so glad the A03 is rescuing them as they start to go down.

Gosh there were some good X-Files fics back in the day.

It's wild to see some of my old fics archived there. Over the years I've toyed with the idea of revising at least some of them know that I know a good bit more about the craft of telling a story.

And seriously! XF authors--and the fandom's generous betas--taught me so much about what I know about writing now.

I vividly remember staying up most of the night to finish reading Ghosts back in the day. torch's writing definitely inspired me too.

Oh man. The archive where I encountered it only had parts 1-3 posted, and for the longest time I thought it was an abandoned WIP. I went a little haywire thinking I was never going to know how it ended!
