Several months ago I kickstarted a deck called the Raincoast Tarot. It was a very understated campaign: no stretch goals, no communication with backers. Not even a little white book for the cards.
Which is fine by me because the creator focused on the cards themselves, and in a word, they are stunning. They are pretty much what my Platonic ideal of tarot cards. Raincoast is rooted in the Smith Waite deck without being a clone. The artwork is what would happen if you ran Nancy Eckholm Burkert's Scrubious Pip illustrations through a pop art filter and added some eerie whimsicality for good measure.

Ze box.

Ze card backs. They're just beautiful.

The Lovers and The Chariot. Nice little callout to The Tower in the former and Escher in the latter.

Octopi and ravens make appearances throughout the deck.

Oh my god, this Moon card. This is what The Moon should be. This may be my favorite card in the deck.

The Sun. I love how the artist takes Smith's Sun and filters it through his own sensibility.

Those faces. Such a great take on this card.
The minors may be even more beautiful than the majors, which is a rarity in many decks. But god, they are stunning in this one.

The GC says the figure in this pip looks like Doctor Manhattan.

I want this on a t-shirt and on a print on my wall.

Just, the level of detail in these cards.

And in this one too.

The artist replaces Wands with Candles in this deck and it...makes sense. I really love this take on the Smith Five of Wands.

Another great Wands/Candles card. I love the recurring motif with the skeletons and the hair.

The artist does the court cards so well. I love the colors and the sense of movement here.

A few more favorite court cards, this time from Pentacles.

Yes.
TL;DR--this deck is amazing and I bet US Games et al. will be scrambling to snap it up.
