Thursday Night
GC: (post-Endgame) I don't feel so good.
Moi: Do you really not feel good? Or are you just regretting taking your telework day today instead of Friday?
GC: (Does not touch a video game for 40+ hours)
Moi: Holy shit, you are sick.

The vomiting was just overkill at that point.

Friday
My fanficcing and pop culture plans were put on hold by nursing duty, but I did manage to hop over state lines to get Mukhurjee's A Necessary Evil out from the library. (I am pretty certain someone has disappeared the only copy in our library's system.) Sixty pages in, it's...all right? I'm not gaga over it but the writing is leaps and bounds better than that in the first novel, so I'm hoping it continues to grow on me.

Saturday
Was Independent Bookstore Day and the first time such has been celebrated here. There were plenty of bumps--staff at the participating locations didn't know how to ring up the advertised specials or even about the event at all, half the locations didn't have the documentation people needed to participate, and one of the few that did explicitly refused to stamp participants' maps unless they made a purchase, which is unfair to the 10 other locations that did not...and the organizers vastly underestimated the number of participants and are now scrambling to backorder prizes and swag.

But at the end of the day, I did spend five hours walking nearly 16 miles in glorious weather to participate, and that's something. Which made me think: I generally walk the equivalent of a marathon over the course of most weekends, so why don't I sign up for an official half walk, and then I can put one of those 13.1 stickers on my car, too.

Sunday was a beer garden with the combined D&D crew, also in lovely weather, followed by a trip to the local game store. Monday was our regular game with the 2nd D&D crew, which wrapped up closer to midnight than not following an unanticipated, marathon combat. Featuring sharks! And zombies! This game is local but also virtual, which works out really well from a timing/convenience perspective, and is also tons of fun because we've nailed the jujitsu of rping while keeping up a constant stream of meta, smacktalk, and bad puns in the chat windows.
