What I Just Finished Reading

Nothing since last Wednesday, unfortunately.

What I Am Currently Reading

A Rising Man – Abir Mukherjee
I’ve been trying to get my hands on this one for the better part of two years, during which it was always mysteriously misshelved at the library. Having now both tracked it down and read about two-thirds of it, I find it to be an entertaining enough read, but nowhere near as engaging as The Strangler Vine.

Colloquial Bengali - Mithun Nasrin & W.A.M. van der Wurff
A Foyle's purchase, and for whatever reason, the first textbook whose introduction of Bangla script has properly clicked.

The Good Vices – Harry Ofgang & Erik Ofgang
This book’s titular good vices include alcohol, sex, and sleep, among others, and the authors have set out to illustrate why they may actually be good for you in moderation. It’s enthusiastically written but superficial, with a fair amount of evidentiary cherry-picking.

Witchmark – C.L. Polk
It’s by no means as bad as The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, for whatever that’s worth.

Intermediate Japanese – Takae Tsujioka & Shoko Hamano
Still trucking along.

龍宮 – 川上 弘美 (Ryugu – Kawakami Hiromi)
The second story in this collection was another fantastically weird offering. Alas, the third is shaping up to be firmly in the Sensei no Kaban mold of creepy May-December romance.

What I'm Reading Next
Will probably be one of the following: The Bird King, The Priory of the Orange Tree, The Raven Tower, or Senlin Ascends.

これで以上です。

That is some very faint praise indeed XD (I do agree! I found Witchmark inoffensive while 'Guide to Vice' actively annoyed me.)

I'm about to embark on The Raven Tower, so looking forward to your thoughts on that one as well.
