...which is apparently a category of item that the Gods of Consumerism have decided I shall not purchase.
This was not a problem when I lived in a place with copious storage and not much living area. But now I live in a place with no storage and vast swaths of uninterrupted interior wall. I initially assumed this was a problem I could solve with the purchase of some nice, mid-range bookshelves.
Alas, such a thing does not seem to exist. Having graduated from Ikea, my only other option seems to be Hardwood Artisans.

One day, I WILL HAVE THIS.
But only after I've moved into a place I own.
Until then, I have a serious collection of books, and the hinky composite material ladder shelves that seem to be what furniture outlets stock these days are not going to be up to the task. Five or six years ago I got this.

It has held up beautifully and matches the rest of my furniture. But I cannot seem to find anywhere with anything--new or used--that resembles it today. And so I find myself with one this awesome shelf, which now sits in the middle of a protective bunker of books piled on the floor, because there's nowhere else to put them.

Maybe its just they don't make too much solid wood furniture these days, due to scarcity perhaps and that has driven the prices of these things up. What you there is nice ... and yes like you too I wish we could find them around too.
Hope you manage to find something eventually ^_^

Ooh, I bet you're right on the money there. Plus, the expectation seems to be that you'll purchase most of your furniture from Ikea (or Amazon or wherever) and ditch it every time you move. Whereas I prefer to have sturdy, well-made stuff that I take with me. And so it goes.
Thanks for the good wishes. ^^ The search continues...

Then came cardboard furniture. O_O
Of course, it gets worse. Once people develop forcefields and other virtual objects, they start making furniture out of thin air.
