...for a bit of RL triumph. Humor me.

This is now my beautiful car.

It has the distinction of being:
a) The first car I have purchased on my own, and from someone other than a family member
b) The first car I have purchased in Japan
and c) The only car I have ever owned where 1/3 of a year passed between purchase and my being able to drive it.

This last is due in no small part to the ever-wonderful city police force, the chief of which sat down with me last October and said, "Young female roundeyes trying to get legal permission to drive her own car in this city? Hah hah, not on my watch" with full knowledge that the rest of the prefectural bureaucracy would back him up, and they did.

But at last, freedom! Beautiful, blessed freedom!

And where to go with it?

Congratulations!

What made them finally relent?

LOL at the BookOff sign!! It looks just like the one in New York. (Also, I am very proud that I've finally mastered ni kimatte iru... hey, one Level 2 grammar point out of 200 ain't bad. But everything involving "koto" still makes me cry.)

Congratulations on the wheels!

Thanks:)

And don't worry too much - after all, koto vocabulary was invented to make the baby Buddha cry, and he's usually a pretty chilled-out dude.

So how did you work round Ms Police Mysogynist In Chief?

(and what make is it?)

From: [identity profile] lebateleur.livejournal.com

I worked around it by keeping at it for four months and eventually enlisting help from the city hall where I work. Fight bureaucracy with bureacracy!

(It's a Honda Civic, btw.)

I've uh, been... I don't know. Mostly good and sometimes bad but that's to be expected, isn't it?

All in all, it isn't completely horrible. ;) What about you?
