So no Silver Diamond this month either. This saves me some cash, but still. No Silver Diamond - for two months running. That's never happened before, and I weep.
Also,
30_lemons. I currently have my second fic written, and then some. Oh, but there is extraneous verbiage that needs to be cut. Problem is, I know it's there, but I don't know what to do with it exactly. It all needs to be in the story, but not in the form/place it is at the moment. Ugh. After three years in this country, my ability to write clear English is not what it once was.
In a spot of good news, however, the Death Note How To Read: Chapter One is most enlightening. It solves the Raito/Light debate, for one - the mangaka stumbled upon 'light' while looking up 'star' in a Japanese-English dictionary, and intention was always to have a light-based name, with no mention made of the light/right pun.
Other interesting bits: L's posture and tendency to go barefoot were in the character design from the beginning, but Obata came up with the clothing, under-eye circles, and predilection for junk food. (Quote: It got really hard trying to come up with new things for L to eat.) L and Light are both a few centimeters taller than I am, but I weigh ten kilograms more. Light is exceeds L in all areas - knowledge, willpower, drive, and especially social ability (of which poor L has none whatsoever). So sorry, Light-just-knew-more fangirls, it looks like Light really is just better all around. (L's sweet tooth, on the other hand, is unparalleled. Hee!)

And Raito! Heheh, to think he was designed to be better than L, it's no wonder things happened as they did. I wonder if it's gonna come back and bite him in the ass though...
By the way, I'm friending you because you write splendid LxRaito. <3 If you want to, friend me back. ^^

It'll be interesting to see what they do with the next section of DN, especially because Ohba explicitly states that L was created for the express purpose of making the series last longer. So it's clear that nothing is set in stone yet.
And friend away! I'm always honored to have new people on board:)

I just got my copy of Ichiraci (the 5/2005 issue, the one that came out on 3/20) and it does have a Silver Diamond chapter. I'm not sure where you got the impression that there wasn't one? Hope you can still pick up a copy, assuming you haven't already!

yet anotherconfrontation with the evil prince going down.)From:

Can you tell me what's on the cover? I need to get my hands on this thing - a SD chapter when I wasn't expecting one is like Christmas!

Also, I think ね would be better here than よ, which sounds a little forceful.
Ah, I was afraid of that. I find myself wanting to end all sorts of phrases with "yo," which is a clear sign of reading too much guyspeak manga. ^_^;

'Yo' is not necessarily girlspeak or guyspeak, but I mostly hear it used to reinforce contradicting statements:
Crap! Takana-sensei hasn't shown up yet!
No, Tanaka-sensei's here, yo!
If it's being used to emphasis a statement of fact, both guys and girls tend to stick 'ne' after it, which unemphasises the emphasis.
>.< Japanese is like that sometimes.
