As I continue to play lj catch-up, I find myself returning to this entry, which was the picspam meme. Requests were made and pictures were taken. But lo, there were a few latecomers to the game. And so I now supply their requests under the cut tags below.

[livejournal.com profile] sara_tanaquil requested my favorite piece of fan merchandise that could only be got in Japan. She also offered to award bonus points for cheesiness and Koori-relation. I am interpreting 'fan merchandise' as doujinshi, and so I offer up some (worksafe) images from two of my favorite doujins.

The first is by Sakurai Shu3, who delighted me by going pro after writing some of my favorite FFVII djs ever. I've been a fan of hers for years, and you can imagine my surprise and happiness when, picking up a random yaoi tank in my local Bookoff and thinking, "Hmm, this looks like it was drawn by one of my favorite FFVII doujinshika ever, I discovered that it was, in fact, drawn by one of my favorite FFVII doujinshika ever. (FYI, the tank in question was オトコノアイシカタ.)

As you can see, these pages are a 3D make-it-yourself Sephiroth paper doll. They are also the only pages I could photograph without worrying about accidentally exposing anyone to extreme kinkiness. God, I love Sakurai so much; she is a complete and total nut. Definitely worth points on the WTF? if not standard cheesiness scale (although Sephy's smile is plenty cheesy here!).

And this is from one of my Silver Diamond doujinshi. Not Koori related, but I should get some points for it being Sugiura related:

The cutest, funniest aniparo thing I own. I'm not translating it because I want to see if Sara can get it first. (Sorry about the crappy picture quality; my camera doesn't have a zoom.)

And moving on, we have [livejournal.com profile] takadainmate, who requested a picture of the infamous washing machine. For disclosure's sake, please note that these were taken during a happier, warmer season, because there's no way I'm going into the freezing cold just to photograph my appliances for an lj meme.

The washer, in all its outdoor glory:

The ingenious drainage system:

And again, in action:

Note that this pic was taken about 20 seconds into the start of the drainage cycle; my entire balcony floods with several inches of water once the thing really gets going. This is a true joy in the spring, summer and fall, when it is too humid to evaporate properly, and in the winter, when it's so cold it just turns into six inches of ice.

And finally, we move onto [livejournal.com profile] metal_dog5 who requested pictures of my entire kitchen.

There it is, yo.

And who also asked for sound files of the new O'Riordan, and who gets them for putting up with me for all these years. Not my best playing by far (strangely, I get way more nervous playing for a microphone than Real Live People), but you should be able to get the picture. Or soundfile. Or whatever.

First we have two reels, Pigeon on the Gate and The Drunken Landlady, which I usually play together in a set, but which are broken down into two files here. The first I learned off of a cassette tape by Richard Searles (although everyone and their granny's recorded a version of it), and the second I learned three years ago from Grey Larsen, whose fan I have been since I was two years old; no kidding! Also, I recorded Pigeon with my Burke AlPro whistle, not the O'Riordan, for comparison's sake.

Next we have my all time most favoritest ever tune, Elizabeth Kelly's Delight, which is the first tune I ever learned by ear, because the Chieftains are horrible about not putting tune names in their liner notes and I was desperate to know it. Anyway, it's a slip jig and I love this one to death.

Here's Garrett Barry's, which I also learned from Grey.

And for some more gratuitous comparison's sake, here's another great slip jig, this time on a Hoover Narrow Bore D, called Culcanandy. It happens to be the second tune I ever learned by ear, this time off of Clannad's Dulaman album.

So yay! More picspam!

The drainage for the washing machine - I am agog that is allowable!
Your kitchen is bigger than I thought it would be. Admittedly I could not live without some form of oven.

ROTFLMAO!

I don't know which is funnier, the Sephiroth paper dolls, the SD doujinshi or the washing machine drainage system. Though I'm gonna go for commentary on SD.

I HOPE you weren't expecting me to be able to figure out any of the kanji at that resolution. 0_0 But from the pictures, I can grok that Kou is pulling his usual "UWAAA what the hell is that??" fit at the sight of the vacuum cleaner, attempts to attack it, and gets sucked most of the way in. (Pause now for more ROTFL.) Finally is rescued by Narushige, to whom he seems to be clinging for comfort.

Oh, you so get points for that. ^_^ But why does Rakan look about eight years old? The mysteries of doujinshi art.

How can anyone not love a character when nearly all known fanfic/doujinshi seem to revolve around him doing a household chore of some sort. Rakan irons, the fangirls swoon.

It's another of those smooshed words: anime + parody = aniparo. But it's parody in a derivative work sense rather than a humor sense.

Which I had always thought too, but I think the meaning is changing. I recently bought a doujinshi at a comic city with author's notes which read, "I'd originally intended to write aniparo, but instead ended up with serious yaoi." I'll check the actual wording once I get back to my house after the weekend.

Nope, I wasn't expecting kanji with that fuzziness - I just didn't want to explain the action till you had a chance to see it. Isn't it PERFECT? So funny. I spent a lot of time mooning over the djka after I bought it. Rakan looks eight because dj art is always iffy, but this example is a lot better than some of the others I've seen.

You may swoon over Rakan and his chores (I admit I coo), but give my Narushige any day of the week;-)

Yey yey! I finally get to see your washing machine. Oh and am I mistaken or is that your lovely touyuu pump beside it. Mmm touyuu...

From: [identity profile] lebateleur.livejournal.com

That would be one of the lovely touyuu pumps (I have twins!) The touyuu itself is actually hiding between the washer and the aircon unit. I can't wait until the day a stray spark sets it alight and roasts me alive.

OTOH, apartment fires are how entire Japanese neighborhoods keep warm in winter, or so I'm told.
