I take a second look at some FMA Spoilers.
The Reports of a Death Are Perhaps Exaggerated:
Ross may not be as dead as I originally thought she was. Something about the last few panels of the most recent chapter have been bothering me since I first laid eyes on them, and I figured out what it was last night.
Arakawa treats us to a gruesome closeup of Ross's charred body, in such a way that I began wondering what it was about the panel readers are supposed to notice.
It may be this: Ross's prison dog tag, which lies draped conspicuously across her arm, and which is also ever so conspicuously broken. It's quite possible that Roy wanted to get to Ross first so that he could help fake her death and let her escape. With no witnesses, it would have been easy for him to stick her bracelet on someone else's body, and who'd be the wiser? (Of course, this begs the question as to whose charred body he stuck it on, but I'm more than happy to let the question beg if it means Ross is alive sipping martinis somewhere.)
Of course, I'm not sure if this is any more or less likely of a scenario, but it does give me some hope.
