I take a second look at some FMA Spoilers.

The Reports of a Death Are Perhaps Exaggerated:

Ross may not be as dead as I originally thought she was. Something about the last few panels of the most recent chapter have been bothering me since I first laid eyes on them, and I figured out what it was last night.

Arakawa treats us to a gruesome closeup of Ross's charred body, in such a way that I began wondering what it was about the panel readers are supposed to notice.

It may be this: Ross's prison dog tag, which lies draped conspicuously across her arm, and which is also ever so conspicuously broken. It's quite possible that Roy wanted to get to Ross first so that he could help fake her death and let her escape. With no witnesses, it would have been easy for him to stick her bracelet on someone else's body, and who'd be the wiser? (Of course, this begs the question as to whose charred body he stuck it on, but I'm more than happy to let the question beg if it means Ross is alive sipping martinis somewhere.)

Of course, I'm not sure if this is any more or less likely of a scenario, but it does give me some hope.

Just saw the scans of this scene (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fm_alchemist/545767.html#cutid1) posted at the fm_alchemist community. I think you're almost surely right about what actually happened. :D

(Also, I'm sure you know this already, but emudown.com (http://www.emudown.com/home/type.asp?typeid=31) has scans of some of the more recent FMA chapters. I must say, Roy's looking really hot in chapter 34. :*)

I so dearly hope I'm right. Cause I love Maria Ross to guiltily high levels I don't want my fic being jossed so early.

As for Chapter 34. Can we say, sexy five o'clock shadow? Perhaps sexier than I should admit, considering it's all just ink on paper?

Yeah, I thought we could. ;)

::pokes Trismegistus:: You're actually L aren't you (http://www.anime-source.com/banzai/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=775&page=29)? XD (spoilers for FMA chapter 39 if you haven't seen it).

I know! I was so happy, happy, happy when I saw that because a) I was right and b) I just have this thing for [that character]. Don't know why, but I do.

And did you see who else makes a comeback? Woah.

I love that person too - actually she and the other female characters are some of the reasons I like the FMA manga so much. They're not the main characters, but they're very three-dimensional. I don't feel as though they're there to service either the guys in the story (although technically I guess they do ^_^;;) or the male readership.

And yay, Wrath is going to play with Roy. :D I hope H is different from the anime H though.

I don't feel as though they're there to service either the guys in the story (although technically I guess they do ^_^;;) or the male readership.

Which is why FMA instantly became one of my all time favorite manga. The guy just treats women differently than in any other manga I've read - be it shoujo, shounen, or yaoi. I think the crux is that while the women service the men, the men need that service. Where would Ed be without Winry to fix his limbs? And these women, though the are servicing the men, have valuable skills and capabilities of their own - they are no way reliant on the male leads for anything.

And yay, Wrath is going to play with Roy. :D

This gives me great hope that Roy will triumph over Wrath and become Daisoutou (and thus survive the series. That's all I ask, really. Because I'm shameless.)

Agreed on all counts about H. The final lines in this month's chapter make me think that he is, though.
