Microsoft is in talks to purchase Discord. Ars has them in the "late stages" while according to the NYT they're "preliminary," but either way, this news does not delight. Microsoft fucks up everything it touches.

The thing is, if I wanted Big Tech data mining my friends, activities, and preferences, I would be on a Big Tech platform like skype, whatsapp, or whatever the google equivalent is.

But I don't, which is why I'm on Discord in the first place.
