Upon examination, I discover that my obsessions in January 2020 are not different from my obsessions in July 2019.

But! There are updates!

Does the Blake & Avery series intrigue? There are already three whole novels of it, with more on the way!

Does Injection pique your interest? Ellis recently revived another of his comics after a three-year hiatus, so a) chances are good that he'll pick this one back up, and b) you still have time to get your spec fic in before he does!

Does The Watchmaker of Filigree Street sound like your thing? The second novel is coming out in February!

I've read the first Blake and Avery book and am planning on reading the rest as soon as I can get my hands on them. (as a side note I spent the last few chapters in wonder at the fact that Avery was in love with Blake and had no idea.)

I also read The Watchmaker last year and it was so good. I can't wait for the next one.

Both books I found thanks to your recs!

I'm a little leery about a series about English guys having adventures in India. How is the colonialism element handled?

I did enjoy The Watchmaker of Filigree Street a lot, but I mostly retain memories of the atmosphere of the book and not its plot details, so I need to reread it before I reread the second book.

and the narrative demonstrates how odious these are.

Nice!

Watchmaker is a deceptively simple book. My memories of it feel so quiet, and yet I know there was so much going on. The atmosphere of it is really unique.
