I have so many favorite original canons and so many favorite pieces from each that this is an impossible challenge. That said, this clip is both a favorite piece of canon and a major inflection point in my life.
"Good morning, Dr. Silberman."
I saw this clip (on an MTV movie review show, hosted by Kurt Loder) years before I watched the actual movie. I was faaar to young to recognize the sexual overtones to the panting, or the sweating, or the "Lookma men, no hands bra!" costuming. Nevertheless, the impression this clip made on me would be hard to overstate. It was not a lightbulb going off, it was a 4th of July fireworks finale going off. Up to that point, life had been Barbie and Rainbow Brite and Madonna, but this clip made me sit up and go, Yes. YES. Yes, I want to look like that. I want to be able to do that. I want to have friends that look like and who are able to do that too.
It was, very much, a formative piece of canon for me, and a favorite one to this day. In other words, how's the knee?
