How are you liking Angel Mage? I hadn't thought of Garth Nix in years, but I remember really liking some of his books when I was a kid. It's cool to see he's got such a large body of subsequent work to check out.

I'm liking it very well. I'd always wished that Seventh Tower or Keys to the Kingdom had been written for "older" audiences and could more explicitly develop the plot's darker aspects, instead of just hinting at them. They're definitely more explicitly developed here.

When did you stop reading? I've pretty much read everything he's written since Sabriel, and certain volumes have landed better for me than others.

Ah, that sounds right up my alley! I think I probably left off in 2003 or so. I read the first few Old Kingdom books, and also Shade's Children, which was probably my favourite.

Oh, I definitely recommend it then, as well as some of the later (in terms of publishing date, not in-plot chronology) entries in the Old Kingdom series.
