LJ Interests meme results

  1. bleach:
I started because Rukia used to kick ass. The introduction of Uryuu hooked me, and Renji (dear, lovely Renji) did me in. I appear to be on something of a Byakuya kick at the moment, as well.

There is so much to love about this series, and a lot of it isn't the obvious stuff. I love the interaction between Ichigo and his family, and the fact that Tatsuki is like a carbon copy of me in high school.
  2. doujinshi:
This is the way the money goes, the money goes, the money goes...
  3. garth nix:
Sabriel is such an amazing book. I love how Nix takes my favorite genres and puts new spins on them. Also, it never hurts to be Neil Gaiman lite.
  4. harry potter:
    Should read: Severus Snape.

That, or I'm only in it for the fandom.
  5. koori no mamono:
Written by my bride-to-be. 'Nuff said.

Seriously, this series taught me how to really read Japanese. You do not want to get me started on Koori, because I will never, ever stop. I love how Sugiura can tell such a long, involved story and make me like everyone in it - even the characters I despised a chapter ago.

She does so much more than pretty pictures; this is what manga is at its best - an intelligent, creative storyline with beautiful 3D characters who mature and change throughout the series. It's wickedly funny and can make you hurt too. The characters - even the secondary and tertiary ones - have such life to them. You walk away feeling like they're still there in their world doing something, even though the series itself has ended.
  6. neil gaiman:
Sandman. Yes. Neil Gaiman got me into graphic novels and thus paved the road for manga a decade later. I can remember picking the first GN up in Borders and hating the art but being thrilled by the Aleister Crowley reference.

Good Omens. Yes. Gateway drug to Discworld.
  7. promethea:
Second only to the Sandman. I'd liked Watchmen and Planetary well enough, but again, it was the references to ceremonial magic and the Kabbalah that really got me into it.
  8. sakurai shu3:
I picked up Otoko no Aisikata on a whim, and because you could actually see the penises, and walked away impressed by the depth of a couple of the stories. This then led to Ookina Vibe no Shita, which is the most beautifully cracked out manga ever to be set to paper. I was hooked. This woman is brilliant.

Imagine my surprise when I realised I'd been a fan for much longer than I'd thought. (Hey, this art looks a lot like those FFVII djs I bought a couple of years ago...)
  9. shonen ai:
Teasing is nice too, although I find that I like this better in small doses. (Read: I would have really liked to have seen Blood and Ishuca getting it on, or even Yuuri getting it on with anyone. It's been what, eleven novels already? Let's go!)
  10. takashima kazusa:
Have been into her since the first tankoubon. I also have the sneaking suspicion that she authored some of my favorite FFVII doujinshi.

(She's never done fandom stuff according to one of the bios I read somewhere, but the art is just too similar to be coincidence, so I have my doubts.)

Unfortunately, she seems to be focusing on shoujo these days.

  11. Wild Adapter
Because I read anything by Minekura like the tool I am. Still, it doesn't hold my interest at any level close to Saiyuki, and holds even less of it since she killed my favorite character off.

    yaoi
    Duh.

You have a number of interests that divides by the tens digit to make twelve, don't you. I hate the way this meme cuts them off.

Other than that :DDD I started with Discworld and Good Omens was my gateway to Neil Gainmen, so we are exactly the opposite way around.

Indeed I do. Imagine my surprise to find that the last two weren't showing up in my post.

One of my favorite things about GO is rereading and trying to pick out which bits were Gaiman's, and which were Pratchett's.
