So I manage to spend over a man on manga today, although I did go into the Big City to do it. (It's wonderful how liberating it feels to browse for an hour or two without 800 of my little bastards peeping over my shoulders to see what I'm looking at.)
Of course, as soon as we got back to the Oaks, my friend wanted to go to Book Off, where of course I found 2/3 of the books I'd just purchased new in the 100 yen section, although they hadn't been there during the three weeks that I'd been scoping for them. I could have saved about 3,000 yen if I'd just waited a fourth week. But that's always how it seems to work.
Anyway, I spent about 8,000 at Animate and received a: //drumroll please// cardboard Naruto pog. For real, guys? I get better freebies when I show up at my local grocers and don't buy anything. OTOH, Animate does give you little plastic bookcovers for any manga you buy, which make nice satisfying crinkling noises while you're reading. (I'm easy for satisfying crinkling noises.)
All in all, it was a successful mission, which is good, because seven inches of snow managed to fall during the time I was out, with no signs of letting up any time soon. It's always nice to have reading material when that happens.
