Well, it's been a while, hasn't it? But then, cross-continental moves will disrupt such things as Internet usage and lj activity.

But, never fear, because I am back with a vengence and yet more bitching on the current sorry state of fandom. Like many, I have recently become entranced by this piece of work.

Depending on how I feel after hitting the izakaya tonight, I may or may not dissect this post sentence by sentence, as it deserves it, and no one (to the best of my knowledge) has bothered yet. At the moment, let me just say, "famous" authors aren't friending you? Poor baby.

I find this whole sitation very similar to those authors who write, "Do u want me to quit writing? Cause if u dont, u should write me feedback. cause i didnt get any lastime," in their author's notes. These people make me contemplate a career as an axe-murderer.

So "famous" people aren't friending you? So people aren't sending you feedback? How about this - try working on writing better lj entries/pieces of fanfiction. No one inherently deserves either feedback or lj friends without first putting in the effort.

I just find this whole attitude extremely annoying, because the people who write such pleas must assume they're the most important people in the fandom. How could they seriously write such posts/author's notes, otherwise. Doesn't everyone want more feedback, or the attention of the authors everyone loves? I sure as hell do, but I'll tell you this: I'll put one line in my A/N requesting feedback, and a link to my lj, and that's it. This ensures that the people sending me feedback/friending my lj are doing it because they think I have something worthwhile to say, and not because I guilted/threatened/whined at them to do it.

And honestly, look at the sort of people who do respond to such pleas for feedback and friending...if they're willing to leave glowing f/b or friend you just because you whined...well, that isn't really a compliment, is it?
