What I Just Finished Reading
The Ultimate Guide to the Tarot - Liz Dean
This volume is a mixed bag. Dean does a good job of laying out the astrological, numerologic, and Qabalistic correspondences for each card, as well as the meanings of many (but not all) of the symbols on the Smith Waite deck. The multiple full color illustration of each card (from the Universal Smith Waite) are a nice touch. Her interpretations for upright cards are generally good. They're focused on fortune-telling, and to that end Dean subdivides each interpretation into useful categories (e.g., career, romance). That said, very little of the information Dean presents is unique to this book and there are a lot of errors, which ultimately makes it of most use as an overview or quick reference; other authors have covered these topics with more depth and accuracy than Dean.
Ghost Tales vol. 4 – Youn Ji-woon
It was fine for what it was.
DVD 7 - 천계영 (DVD vol. 7 - Chon Kye-young
Didi is such a sweetheart, and the fortune telling scenes with the stray cat are hysterical. I love this series.
What I Am Currently Reading
The Wicked and the Just - J. Anderson Coats
Our (anti)heroine protagonist is starting to find common cause with the Welsh.
The Drunken Botanist - Amy Stewart
This week I read the entries for agave and apple.
願かけ – 佐伯 泰英 (Negaikake – Saeki Yasuhide)
In this week's chapters, Akame tried shifting his location to avoid the random crowds of strangers who have inexplicably started worshipping him. It didn't work. Local craftsmen and law enforcement's attempts to run down the source of the rumors that have led the strangers to do so also hit brick walls.
DVD 8 - 천계영 (DVD vol. 8 - Chon Kye-young)
What a great ending. What a great series. I'm currently working my way through the DVD "extras" and they are a ton of fun to read.
What I'm Reading Next
This week I picked up a copy of Stewart's The Drunken Botanist.
