Friday Flora: Blooms Edition

The days are growing noticeably longer and brighter despite the frequently overcast and/or rainy conditions (which I love! This is my kind of weather). My plants have responded appropriately.

My crab cactus has bloomed twice in as many months:

The baby moth orchids have woken up:

And the African violets are going strong:

Did you know bell peppers are perennials if you compulsively overwinter every plant you can indoors like I do?

I even managed to get these guys onto the balcony for a couple days this week for some (I'm hopeful) pollination.

Despite a near brush with spider mites, the jasmine has already produced some early blooms:

Relatedly, the New York Times recently asked, Will the Food Habits of Scallion Nation Outlast Quarantine? and out of the myriad things--from making used-envelope notepads to saving restaurant napkins to saving aluminum foil, or wrapping paper, or butter wrappers--the article mentions, the only one my grandparents, my parents and (at least 60-90 percent of the time) I do not do...

...is grow scallions on the windowsill. (T_T)
