Snowflake Challenge 2023: Challenge #14

Challenge #14

What were your top 5 fandoms for 2022 based on the amount of time you interacted with them?
1. Dungeons & Dragons
2. The Blake & Avery series
3. The Goblin Emperor series
4. Baldur's Gate
5. MCU
5. AEW
Dungeons and Dragons take the cake here: I played anywhere from 2-5 sessions a week throughout much of 2022. Playing in these campaigns and oneoffs accounted for the majority of my free time, eclipsing for the first time ever, the amount of time I spent reading books. I'm calculating nos. 2-4 based on the amount of time I devoted to writing and posting fic for those fandoms (and to playing BG, for no. 4). MCU and AEW tie for 5th place: MCU because I watched (and rewatched!) multiple MCU movies and streaming series, in addition to writing fic in that universe, and AEW because we went to multiple local shows and have stumbled into the role of host for when PPVs air.
What were your top 5 fandom spaces (Discord, Twitter, etc.) you experienced fandom in terms of time spent?
1. Geekbar
2. Other physical spaces
3. Dreamwidth
4. D&D Beyond / Roll20
5. AO3
I am very lucky in that the majority of my fandom interaction last year occurred in person, which has not been the case at any other point in my life. Geekbar is home to the weekly Geekchat, as well as a core group that plays D&D, other TTRPGs, and other tabletop games either at the bar or at each other's homes. Other physical spaces include our place and a rotating list of others' places, largely for D&D, MtG, or tabletop gaming sessions.
Dreamwidth is by far my primary point of engagement with fandom online; AO3 comes into play for reading and posting fic, neither of which I did as frequently as I'd hoped to in 2022, and D&D Beyond and Roll20, obviously, for virtual campaigns.
What are the top 5 things you did to contribute to fandom in terms of time? Did you write? Comment? Send positive energy into the universe? Create art?
1. Hosted game nights and PPV viewings
2. Participated in What Am I Reading Wednesdays
3. Wrote, posted, and read fic
4. Helped beginners figure out D&D and Call of Cthulhu gameplay
5. Seeded Little Free Libraries with hard copies of some favorite book, game, and movie canons
What were your top 5 most appreciated fandom contributions? (i.e. in terms of likes, kudos, reblogs, comments, etc.)
1. One Divine Hammer, going by hits and kudos.
2. Fool's Errand comes in next, which is a bit of a surprise, as I don't get the sense that Main Fandom is particularly keen on the character it focuses on.
3. Star Struck is next, which makes sense given that it's also about a minor character from the same fandom.
4. Then we have The Clarity of Purpose He Once Enjoyed, a Rasaad-focused drabble that got nearly double the attention of anything else I wrote in that fandom in 2022.
5. And finally, Transportations, which is the second longest thing I wrote and one of the raciest.
Have a Top 5 List you'd like to share?? By all means!
Behold: a pic of 2022's top 5 sets of most obliging dice, determined by how consistently they rolled in a benevolent manner during critical junctures in gameplay.
