Other books I've read recently that have really stayed on my mind include:

The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden
, which is a beautiful, painful and rewarding historical novel with supernatural elements
* Katherine Addison's
The Cemeteries of Amalo series
, which is focused on Thara Celehar, a secondary character in The Goblin Emperor, but is more detective fiction rather than political drama.
