I was recently rear-ended myself and thankfully the damage was minor as well. I'm sorry to hear that too, and glad that you are okay! Even with only minor damage, it's such a frightening thing to have happen.
I find when I have the urge to write something for a fandom that if I just write something even if it's a one-shot the feeling will be satisfied. This is very true. Right now, though, I'm still at the "imagining little static scenes or dialogue snippets in my head" stage. Maybe I'll have enough by this weekend to actually get some words onto a page.
I grew up without air conditioning, but I couldn't imagine living without it now. Yes, exactly! Same thing here--it was such a big thing when moved to a place with window units, even. But oh my goodness, it just makes it so much easier to sleep restfully. I can't imagine living without it now, either.
